Floral Divider Bar

ATTORNEY-AT-LAW.--Mr. Griggs is a native of Marion county, Indiana. He commenced the study of law, early in life, while attending school at Zionsville Accademy [sic Academy] and Wabash College. April 19, 1861 he responded to his country's first call and enlisted in the service. He was soon discharged, but enlisted again in response to the call for 300,000 men, becoming a member of the Twenty-first Indiany [sic Indiana] Volunteers, Company K., which was one of the first companies to march from his state to the scene of action. He participated in many engagements. He came to Audubon county in 1867, locating at Exira, where he was admitted to the bar and soon took rank as one of the ablest lawyers in the west. He is a man of profound learning, clear judgment and undaunted courage. He has had cases in every term of court since admitted to the bar, and his succes [sic success] before the supreme court has been truly flattering to himself and clients.
