CLARKSVILLE WOMAN BECOMES WAC HERE

Another WAC recruited at Waterloo's army office is Mrs. Edna Wilson, Clarksville, Ia., who was called to duty this week. She will report for training at Fort Oglethorpe, Ga., Saturday with Leora M. Bellmer, 424 East Second street, and will be included in the first Iowa company of all-states division.

70 Pct. Of Iowa WACs From Fighting Families

A survey of approximately 70 per cent of the total Iowa WAC enlistment reveals its close integration with the war effort through service of members overseas and in this county, and through other members of their families.

Among the Iowa WACs serving with their husbands are:

Pvt. Edna A. Wilson, Clarksville, was the first enlistee in the Waterloo recruiting district to sign for the All-Iowa state WAC company.  Her husband, Leland C. Wilson, is in North Africa.

Clarksville -- Tech. 5th Gr. Edna Ann Wilson, Wac, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ferd Sinram, is returning to the United States for discharge after serving 15 months overseas in Hollandia, New Guinea and in the Philippines with the army forces in the western Pacific ordnance department. She is at present a the women's replacement and disposition center near Manila, P.I., awaiting transportation. Mrs. Wilson, who joined the Wac in October, 1943, is entitled to wear the Asiatic-Pacific ribbon, Victory ribbon, American theater ribbon and the Good Conduct ribbon. Her husband has also been in service with the ordnance department.
