Skating Party For Dorothy Wiedemeyer, Who Joined WAVES

Misses Mildred Feld, Rose Wiedemeyer, Betty Kasperbauer and Elaine Imming gave a roller skating party at the Twentieth Century Rink last night in honor of Dorothy Wiedemeyer, who is soon leaving to report for service with the WAVES. There were about seventy-five participants.

Later in the evening, a few of the group had lunch at Mildred Field's home.

Leave Today for Duty With WAVES

Dorothy Wiedemeyer and Lucille Hocking, who were recently sworn into the WAVES, left today to begin their training. After reporting at Des Moines, they are going to Hunter College, N.Y., for their "boot" training.

Dorothy Wiedemeyer Discharged After Her Return from Overseas

Dorothy Wiedemeyer, who was in the first contingent of WAVES sent to the Hawaiian Islands, arrived home Saturday night as a dischargee. Following her release at Great Lakes, Ill., Dec. 1, she visited friends in Chicago before coming to Carroll.

Miss Wiedemeyer, daughter of Mrs. Leo J. Wiedemeyer, was a seaman first class. She was in the service 22 months and on foreign duty about 11 months.

Arriving in the Hawaiian Islands, Jan 6, 1945, she was sent to Kahului on the island of Maui, where she served as a synthetic gunnery instructor.

She has been back in the United States since Nov. 21, when she landed at Balboa Park, Calif.
