IOWA CITY NEWS BRIEFS
-- Regina Vogel, Iowa City Mercy hospital nurse, has been commissioned a second lieutenant in the nurses corps. Miss Vogel will leave Oct. 15 for Fort Leavenworth, Kan., to join the Red Cross nursing headquarters there.

WOMEN IN SERVICE
Miss Katherine Vogel, 625 East Bloomington street, has received word that her sister, Lieut. Regina Vogel, has arrived safely in England. Lieutenant Vogel, a graduate of the Mercy hospital school of nursing, entered the service October 14, 1941, and has been stationed at Ft. Leavenworth, Kan., Camp Forrest, Tenn., and Camp Phillips, Kan.

2 Iowa Women Killed in Airliner Crash
Four Former Iowans Also Are Victims
Two Iowans and a former East Iowan were killed in the crash of a United Air Lines DC-8 jetliner at Denver Tuesday:
Regina Vogel - Sigourney
Regina Vogel was returning to her job as superintendent of nurses at the Veterans hospital in Oakland, Calif., after a 2-week visit with relatives here.
Her body will be returned to the Reynolds funeral home here.
A native of the Clear Creek area, she was graduated fro Mercy hospital school of nursing in Iowa City. During World War II, she served as a nurse in England.
Survivors include 5 brothers and 6 sisters.
