WAVE of the Day

Miss Lois Jean Veatch, 211 East Locust street, was recently sworn into the WAVES.

The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Veatch of Trenton, Mo., is a graduate of Trenton high school. She was employed by the law firm of McDonald & McCracken from 1942 until just recently when she became an employee of the Masonic temple.

Miss Veatch's brother, Staff Sgt. Floyd Veatch, was twice injured in the Italian campaign and is now hospitalized at Schick General hospital, Clinton.

A group of WAVE recruits from this area left the Rock Island recruiting station early today for Hunter college, New York, for a six week indoctrination course.

Lois Jean Veatch Wilson was born Aug. 1, 1924 to James W. and Mollie Veatch.

Lois served with the U.S. Navy in World War II.
