Miss Maxine Vader has the honor of being the first Bayard girl to join the WAVES. She completed her enlistment and was sworn in at Des Moines last Saturday. She expects to be called to active duty the last of March.

Miss Vader was graduated from the the Bayard high school in 1932 and attended Simpson college two years. After receiving her teachers certificate she taught school for seven years at Bouton, Greenville and Baxter. Since last June she has been working for a cosmetic company with headquarters in Boone.

TWO WAVES SPENDING LEAVES AT HOME

Maxine Vader and Lucille Ruge, both pharmacists mates 2/c of the WAVES, are spending leaves at their respective homes. Lucille works in a dental dispensary in Cambridge, Mass., and Maxine is a laboratory technician stationed at Terre Haute, Ind.
