Verna Maxine ‘Maxine’ Stewart was born Oct. 28, 1922 to Franklin Histaphus ‘Tassie’ and Lillian Herr Stewart. She died Aug. 19, 2014 in Brunswick, GA.
She is buried in Iowa Veterans Cemetery, Adel, IA.
She was married to Harlan DeLaine Strampe. He is also buried in Iowa Veterans Cemetery.
Sgt. Stewart taught school in Jewell, IA before she joined the Marine Corps. She was stationed at Marine Air Bases at New Bern, NC; Cherry Point, NC; and the Territory of Hawaii.
