OXFORD TEACHER WILL JOIN WAACS

Genevieve Spratt Takes Exams At Des Moines

Oxford -- Miss Genevieve Spratt, teacher at District No. 4, is the first Oxford township rural teacher to join the WAACs. Miss Spratt went to Des Moines last week where she took the examination. She will not leave until her school closes in May. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Barney Spratt west of Oxford.

More than Half of Iowa WACs Have Immediate Kin in Service

Des Moines - More than 50 per cent of Iowa women serving in the Women's Auxiliary corps come from families which has at least one other member on the service.

Corp. Mary Genevieve Spratt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. B.B. Spratt of Oxford, does clerical work at the Third WAC training center, Ft. Oglethorpe, Ga., Before her enlistment last May, she taught school. She has two brothers in the service, Corp. William R. Spratt in the air force and Corp. Bernard L. Spratt in the army.

WOMEN IN SERVICE

Staff Sgrt. Genevieve Spratt is passing a 10-day furlough at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. B.B. Spratt of Oxford, and her sister, Winifred, of Iowa City. Sergeant Spratt is an instructor in the medical clerks' school at Fort Oglethorpe. Ga.
