Mason Cityan Is Inducted Into WAVES

Miss Kay Siesseger, daughter of Mrs. F.W. Siesseger, 107 1/2 First street southeast, has returned from Des Moines where she was inducted into the WAVES as an apprentice seaman.

Miss Siesseger will be called into service, possibly in 60 days and will go to the University of Indiana for training for either accountancy, storekeeper or post exchange.

Miss Siesseger has been employed as cashier at the city hall and before working there she was employed in Minneapolis. She is a graduate of the Mason City high school and attended the University of Minnesota.

GETS DISCHARGE -- Miss Kay Siesseger, daughter of Mrs. F.W Siesseger 107 1st S.E., has arrived from Minneapolis where she has received her discharge from the WAVES. Miss Siesseger was one of the first Mason Cityans to go into the WAVES, enlisting early in 1943. She took her boot training at Iowa State Teachers college, Cedar Falls and was sent from there to the U.S. Naval training school for storekeepers at Indiana university. Her first station was at Hutchinson, Kans, and from there she was transferred to Minneapolis where she was at the time of her discharge. Miss Siesseger will resume her duties as cashier of the City of Mason City which she left to join the WAVES on Dec. 17.
