HAMPTON GIRL LEAVES FOR WAVES TRAINING

Hampton, Ia. -- Miss Gloria Rule, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. J.S. Rule of Hampton, left Tuesday for Hunter college, New York, to begin her basic training as a member of the WAVES. During the last two years Miss Rule attended Drake university, where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority.

She is the third member of her family to enter the military service, her two brothers, Dr. J.S. Rule, jr., and W. Raymond Rule, formerly of Hampton, being members of the U.S. Army.

The former is a lieutenant colonel in the dental corps with the second bomber command, stationed at Fort George Wright, Spokane, Wash., and the latter holds the rank of first lieutenant at the Shenago Replacement depot in Pennsylvania.

Dr. and Mrs. John Sudduth Rule of Hampton, Ia., announce the engagement of their daughter, Gloria, to Sergt. Robert N. Carney, son of Mr. and Mrs. Kreigh Gerald Carney of Des Moines.

Both Miss Rule and Sergeant Carney attended Drake university, where the former was affiliated with Kappa Alpha Theta sorority and the latter with Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity.

At the present time Miss Rule,a member of the WAVES, is stationed in Atlanta, Ga., and Sergeant Carney at Fort Jackson, S.C.
