Miss Dorothy A. Rath
, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Otto A. Rath, 2015 West Street and Miss Marion C. Kirkegaard, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Phillip C. Kirkegaard, 4001 Orchard Street, have been accepted for service with the Waves and will be on inactive duty until called. Both are Central High School graduates.

Ensign William O. Rath has returned to the east coast after a leave spent at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Otto A. Rath, 2015 West street.  Ensign Rath was graduated from the midshipmen school at Columbia University, New York City, recently.  His sister, Dorothy Rath, will report May 3 to Hunter college for training as a WAVE.

Dorothy Alice Rath Ideker-Althaus was born Oct. 28, 1915 to Otto A. and Alice R. Blakie Rath. She died June 15, 2003 and is buried in Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery, Hinton, IA.

Dorothy served with the U.S. Navy WAVES in World War II. She was stationed on the East Coast as a radio operator. She was married to Ralph Ideker and after his death married Ernest Vaughn. After Ernest’s death she married Herbert Althaus.
