Lt. Minnie Oelker

RED CROSS NURSE -- Miss Minnie Oelker, daughter of Mrs. William Oelker of Sheffield, has enlisted as a Red Cross army nurse and left this week for Camp Crowder, Mo., to report for duty. Miss Oelker is a graduate of the Lutheran hospital, Des Moines and for the past six months has been employed in the Lutheran hospital, Hampton.

Sheffield -- Lt. Minnie Oelker of the army nurse corps, came Saturday for a week's visit with her mother, Mrs. Will Oelkers. Lieutenant Oelker returned to the United States from Italy where she has been serving on a hospital ship.

Lt. Minnie Oelker Weds Edward Combs

Sheffield -- Lt. Winnie Oelker, daughter of Mrs. William Oelker, Sheffield and Sgt. Edward Combs, Redding, Cal., son of Mr. and Mrs. Malon Combs, Dardenelle, Ark., were married Oct. 4, in the Trinity Lutheran church, Jacksonville, Fla., by the Rev. Mr. Pugh.

Attending the couple were Lt. Helena Stewart, St. Paul, and Sgt. Edward Robertson, Cleveland, Ohio.

Sgt. and Mrs. Combs attended Lt. Helena Stewart and Sgt. Robertson, who were married at the same time.

Mrs. Combs is a graduate of Sheffield high school and the Lutheran hospital school of nursing, Des Moines. Before entering the army nurses corps, she was employed the Lutheran hospital, Hampton. For the past several moths she has been serving on a hospital ship in Italy.

Sheffield -- Lt. Minnie Combs of the army nurse corps is spending a furlough at the home of her mother, Mrs. William Oelker. Lt. Combs has been stationed on the hospital ship Shamrock, in Italy and Africa.
