Miss Betty Jane Montandon, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Musser, 4118 Floyd avenue, was sworn into the marine corps January 18 at DesMoines, and now is awaiting orders to active duty at Camp Lejeune, New River, N.C.

Funeral services for Pfc. Betty Jane Montandon, 21, daughter of Mrs. J. A. Musser, 4521 Grant street, who was killed last Monday in a plane crash near San Pedro, Cal., will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Anderson chapel.  Chaplain Francis L. Getz of the Sioux City airbase will officiate and Pallbearers will be air base personnel.  Burial will be in Floyd cemetery.

Monahan post, American Legion, will have charge of military rites at the graveside.  The color guard and firing squad will be composed of members of the Post.  The bugler will be from the air base.  The body is expected to arrive here Tuesday.

Pfc. Montandon was a member of the women’s reserve in the marine corps.  She had been stationed at Cherry Point, N.C.

Betty Jane Montandon was born Dec. 23, 1923 to Charles and Elsie Day Montandon. She died Sept. 25, 1944 and is buried in Floyd Cemetery, Sioux City, IA.

Betty Jane served in World War II with the U.S. Marine Corps.
