LEAVE OVER -- Miss Betty Lawton, specialist T 3/c, has left for Corpus Christi, Texas to begin her studies as link instrument training instructor in the WAVES, after spending her leave with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Lawton, 1008 1st street northwest. Specialist Lawton has completed 3 months training at Atlanta, Ga. Miss Lawton was accompanied here by Specialist Laura B. Thompson of Denver who had also been training at Atlanta and was assigned to Corpus Christi.

MASON CITYANS IN HAWAII -- Two Mason City women have recently been assigned to service in the Hawaiian Island, according to information received from Pearl Harbor. They are Lt. (j.g.) Katherine M. Goldbuff (NC) USNR, and Miss Betty Lawton, Sp-2-C of the WAVES.

Miss Walton is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leo L. Lawton, 1008 1st N.W., Mason City Specialist Lawton attended Mason City high school and was employed as a hospital receptionist for Park hospital, Mason City, before entering the navy in May, 1943. Miss Lawton was stationed at Waldron field, Corpus Christi, Texas, before assignment overseas.
