NURSES HOSTESSES -- Lt. Ann Adell Johnson of Mason City and her sister nurses at Bergstrom field, will be hostesses to local civilian nurses at an open house Feb. 5, at this First Troop Carrier command base near Austin, Texas.
The open house will commemorate the 44th anniversary of the Army Nurses Corps. Visitors will be guest of the Bergstom nurse at luncheon at the Officer's club, following a tour of the base hospital.
Lt. Johnson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.L. Johnson, 118 12th N.W., Mason City is a graduate of Mason City high school and attended Mason City junior college for 1 year. She took her oath of office July 9, 1943, and reported to Bergstrom Field Jan. 18, '45.
In civilian life she did surgical nursing. Asked if she again would join the Army Nurse corps if she could re-choose her wartime role, Lt. Johnson said:" I most certainly would do it over again. This is the nurses place when our country's future is at stake. And I think the ANC is making a splendid contribution, too."

NURSE PROMOTED -- Miss Anne Johnson, army nurse stationed at Bergstrom field, was promoted to 1st lieutenant, according to announcement by Col. Samuel J. Davis, commanding officer of this 1 Troop Carrier Command base near Austin, Texas.
Lt. Johnson, who joined the army nurse corps in July, 1943, received her training at Kahler hospital, Rochester, Minn. She did post-graduate work in surgery at John Hopkins in Baltimore, Md. She served at Ft. Logan, Colo., and Stout Field, Indianapolis, Ind., before coming to Bergstrom Field last January.
Her parents are Mr. and Mrs. William L. Johnson, 118 12th N.W.
