T 3/c Phyliss Iverson Bailey

SPAR Phyliss Iverson, daughter of Mr. and Mr. Elmer F. Iverson, 309 Lawton Terrace, is the first SPAR at the U. S. coast guard training station in Palm Beach, Fla. to receive the rating of petty officer, specialist (T) 3/c.

Phyllis I. Bailey, Sp, 3c (Training), instructs a class of new SPAR "Boots" at the U.S. Coast guard training station, Manhattan Beach, New York. Mrs. Bailey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E.F. Iverson, 309 Lawton Terrace, is a graduate of the University of Omaha. She has been on the instruction staff at SPAR training schools in Palm Beach, Fla., and at Manhattan Beach since the completion of her own SPAR indoctrination early in 1944.

Specialist Bailey's husband, O. Don Bailey, is a private in the army now stationed at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. Her brother, E.F. Iverson, jr., is a captain in the army air corps.
