Betty Hartzer




Betty Hartzer, of 1006 Penn ave., has joined the WAVES on her twentieth birthday recently, contemplates a future in the service during some idle moments in a downtown department store where she is employed. Betty is the niece of Floyd Hartzer, former chief of police here.

Des Moines in the Service

Betty Hartzer, pharmacist's mate, third class, in the WAVES, is visiting her mother, Mrs. Leona Hartzer, 1006 Penn ave., on a six-day leave from San Diego, Cal., where she is surgery and x-ray technician in the dental department of the United States naval training center. She has been in the WAVES 20 months.

Betty Hartzer Become Bride of C.L. Watts, Jr.

Miss Betty Hartzer, 1006 Pennsylvania ave., daughter of Mrs. Leona Hartzer and the late Tilman Hartzer of Des Moines, became the bride of Charles L. Watts, jr, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Watts of Nodaway, Sunday in the chapel of Wesley Methodist church.


Mrs. Watts is a graduate of East High school and is a member of Theta Sigma Chi sorority. She served in the WAVES for two years and is now employed by Stoner McCray System. Mr. Watts is a veteran of three ad one-half years' military service in the Pacific theater.
