The two in the picture (above) are Laurel Harms (Left), a typist at the Rock Island Arsenal, and Joanne Van Atta, high school librarian, both from Muscatine.

WAVE VISITOR HERE -- Laurel R. Harms, seaman first class in the WAVEs, who completed her radio training recently at Miami university, Oxford, O., is spending a few days visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. R.L. Harms, 215 east Eighth street, enroute to the west coast, where she has been assigned for duty.

Laurel Ruth Harms Ristow was born Feb. 14, 1923 to Raymond L. and Hattie B. Papenthien Harms. She died Oct. 21, 1996.

She was married to Chester Charles Ristow. Chester served in World War II with the U.S. Navy.
