WAVE of the Day
Rose Louise Harder, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. Harder, 1716 Division street, is now an apprentice seaman in the WAVES and is waiting for her orders to report to Hunter college, New York City, N.Y., for her navy "boot" training.
She attended Davenport schools where she was very active in athletics and at present is employed as a machine operator at the Uchtorff Co.
Seaman Harder has one brother, William, a sergeant in the marines, and a younger brother, Lester, who is leaving soon to join the armed forces.

Announce Troth
Mr. and Mrs. Ehrich Harder of 1716 Division street, Davenport, announce the engagement of their daughter, Miss Rose Harder, to Philip E. Dietz, son of Mrs. Merle Dietz, of 814 Fillmore street, Davenport. No date has been set for the wedding.
Both the bide-elect and Mr. Dietz, attended the Davenport schools. Miss Harder is a seaman, first class, in the WAVES and is stationed at Indian Head, Md. Mr. Dietz, who recently received a discharge from the army, was employed at Kohrs Packing Co. before entering the service almost five years ago. He was stationed for several years in Italy.
