Ensign Mary Lou Gould

 

 

Mary Lou Gould in Navy Nurses Corps; Commissioned Ensign

Mary Lou Gould, daughter of Mrs. Lauretta Gould, 610 Laurel street, Davenport, and the late Carl A. Gould, has joined the navy nurse corps with the commission of ensign. She left Friday for Farragut, Idaho, where she will receive her boot training.

Ensign Gould was graduated from St. Luke's nursing school, where she was employed in the hospital until her enlistment in March of this year.

She has two brother, Master Sgt. Ernest L. Gould, who is stationed at Camp Adair, Oregon and Pfc. Edwin R. Gould, of the army infantry division, who has been a prisoner in Germany for the last 18 months.

Announcement is made of the marriage of Ensign Mary Louise Gould, daughter of Mrs. Carl A. Gould of 2031 1/2 Farnam street, Davenport, to Sgt. Ronald M. Wright, son of Mr. and Mrs. W.V. Wright of Springfield, Ill.

Vows were spoken Friday, Feb 9, in the parsonage of a Presbyterian church in Montgomery, Ala., with the Rev. Dr. D.C. MacGuire officiating. The attendants were Mrs. Marie Baldwin of Montgomery and Henry Stallings who is stationed at Maxwell Field in Alabama. The bride's mother was present at the ceremony, returning to Davenport last night,

The bride wore her slate gray uniform and a corsage of white carnations. A wedding dinner was held at the Gunner's club in Montgomery.

The bride was graduated from the Davenport high school and the nurse's training school of St. Luke's hospital. She has been in the service since July 14, and is stationed at the United States Naval hospital in Farragut, Ida. She must return to her duties there Feb 22.

Sgt. Wright attended the Urbana, Ill., schools. He has been in the service for three years and is stationed at Maxwell Field, Ala. He was formerly employed at Sears, Roebuck & Co, Rock Island.

Mary Louise Gould Wright was born Feb. 6, 1922 to Carlos Augustin and Lauretta S. Klebe Gould. She died Feb. 21, 2017 and is buried in Saint Peter Evangelical Lutheran Garden of Peace, Fort Myers Beach, FL. Ens. 

Gould served with the U.S. Navy Nurse Corps in World War II. She was married to Ronald M. Wright. Sgt. Wright served with the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II.
