Girls Ride Jeep As Reward for Selling Bonds

Holding a "Minute Man Day" Monday, 350 pupils at St. Joseph's academy celebrated their efforts in selling approximately $15, 850 in war bonds for the second war bond drive. The girls began their campaign Apr. 1 and sold bonds to their families and friends.

Borrowing a jeep from the WAAC, a few of the pupils took a ride, Standing at the front of the jeep are Teresa Harrison (left) and Martha Frantz. Seated in the front are Pam Donovan, Chairman (left) and Helen Maley, co-chairman, the driver. Farewell Dinner

Miss Martha Frantz, who will leave next Tuesday to begin her boot training for the WAVES at Hunter college at New York City, was honored at a farewell dinner given by her sister, Mrs. H.J. Lutjen, 2407 Fortieth place.

Martha M. Frantz, WAVE seaman, first class is visiting her sister, Mrs. H.J. Luetjen, 2407 Fortieth place, on a 10-day leave from Anacostia naval air station, Washington D.C.

Lt. Annabelle Chase Keener, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leslie B. Chase, 911 Forty-fifth at., and Martha Matilda Frantz, graduate of St. Joseph academy here, have been discharged from the WAVES at Washington D.C.

Miss Frantz, former specialist (X), second class, joined the service Jan. 6, 1944. Her last duty station was at the navy photographic intelligence center at Washington. Mrs. Keener, who entered the navy Mar. 13, 1943, last was stationed in the navy bureau of aeronautics at Washington.
