ENLISTS IN WAVES
The U.S. Navy recruiting station at Des Moines announces Marjorie Elizabeth Ervin of Atalissa as recently been given the oath as a member of the WAVES at Des Moines after her enlistment through navy substation at Davenport.

Helping to push a plane into a hangar for repairs is Marjorie Ervin, Atalissa. Working on the "line", where planes are based and checked, she is among WAVES responsible for the final inspection before training craft take off.

Marjorie Elizabeth Ervin DeWinter was born Sept. 1, 1921 to Carl D. and Verona King Ervin. She died Feb. 19, 1997 and is buried in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline, IL.
She was married to William “Bill” DeWinter. Bill served in World War II with the U.S. Army and was in the second wave of the Allied invasion at Omaha Beach.
