Mrs. Ann Russell Darr

 

 

WOMEN IN SERVICE

A member of the 11th class of WASPs to graduate from Avenger field at Sweetwater, Texas, last Saturday was Ann Russell Darr, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Horton Russell of Bagley.

Mrs. Darr is a 1941 graduate of the University of Iowa where she was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa scholastic honorary fraternity. Before beginning her WASP training seven months ago she served as a radio script writer for station WJZ in New York City. She began flying with the CPT program at the University of Iowa and has logged about 15 hours of private flying time. Her husband, Lieut. (j.g.) George C. Darr, former Middleton, Conn. physician, is now serving overseas with the U.S. navy medical corps.
