Catherine Irene Cunningham

 

 

Catherine Irene Cunningham was born 10 March 1918, in Anthon, to James and Mary Cunningham. Siblings are Tom, Marcella, Gilda, Ann, Joe, Frank, and Maurice. She was an avid runner.

Catherine entered the U.S. Navy, 23 February 1944. She attended school in Bronx, New York. Was in the Post Office in San Diego, California. Whenever she saw mail addressed to her brother, Frank, she made sure it was sent on to him quickly.

Discharged 15 August 1946, in San Diego. She is entitled to wear the American Area Ribbon and the World War II Victory Medal.

She was a proofreader for a San Diego Company.

She married Orville Edminster and to that marriage had one daughter, Maurine. After Orville’s death, she remarried to Don Bennett in San Diego, where she makes her home.

These are Catherine’s brothers, Joe, Frank, Maurice and Tom.
