Sgt. Catherine Coughlin

 

 

START TRAINING -- Leah Blythe, 1431 1/2 Bridge avenue, and Phyllis Kaynet, 111 Perry street, left today for Des Moines, Ia., where they will start their basic training in the WAACS. They were accompanied by Miss Catherine and Miss Elizabeth Coughlin, 1221 Scott street, who will also start their training. The girls were recruited the Davenport office of the WAACS located in the postoffice building under the direction of Third Officer Margaret Murray.

Coughlin Sisters, WAC Sergeants, Are Home of Furloughs

Sgts. Catherine and Elizabeth Coughlin of the WACS are spending a 10-day furlough, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. T.A. Coughlin, 20 McClellan boulevard. Sgt. Catharine Coughlin is stationed with the transportation corps at Camp Detrick, Frederick, Md. She entered the Women's Army Corps April 6, 1943, and received her training at Fort Des Moines. Prior to entering the service, she was with the Department of Justice.

Sgt. Elizabeth Coughlin, who was formerly employed at the Ordnance Steel Foundry Co., Bettendorf, is in the office of the U.S. army chief of staff in Washington, D.C. and is stationed at Fort Meyer, Va.
