Betty Jean Cooper, yeoman, third class, in the WAVES, is spending a nine-day leave with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred S. Cooper, 3416 Ingersoll ave. She is stationed at Washington, D.C.

Mrs. Herbert Laughead Is Hostess at Luncheon

Mrs. Herbert Laughhead entertained at a luncheon Saturday complimenting Betty Jean Cooper, specialist "Q", third class, WAVES, who concluded a seven-day leave Monday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. F.S. Cooper, 3416 Ingersoll ave.

The affair was given at the home of the hostess' parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thorwald Nelson, 1108 Forty-sixth st. Eight guests participated.

Betty J. Cooper Will Marry

Mr. and Mrs. Fred S. Cooper, 3419 Ingersoll ave., announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Betty Jeanne, petty officer, third class, WAVES, to Ralph A. Woodhead, son of Mr. and Mrs. C.B. Woodhead of Forest, Va. The marriage will take place Feb. 17 in Des Moines.

Miss Cooper was graduated from Roosevelt High school and later was employed at Equitable Life Insurance Co. For the last year and a half she has been in the service and now is stationed in Washington, D.C. Mr. Woodhead recently was discharged for the navy, in which he served three years. He now is enrolled at Columbia Technology college in Washington, D.C.
