Ten young women left yesterday for Hunter college, the Bronx, N.Y., to start their basic training in the WAVES. They enlisted during the special drive in the quad-cities last month.

Jean A. Connor Has Completed Her Boot Training in WAVES
Jean A. Connor, daughter of Mrs. Robert Garret, 920 Tremont avenue and Harla Connor of RR No. 3, Harrison street road, Davenport, has completed her boot training at Hunter college, Bronx, N.Y., and is now a seaman second class.
She has been transferred and is now stationed in Lake Union, Seattle, Wash.
She was a graduate of Davenport high school and before her entry into the WAVES in September of this year, she was employed at the Rock Island arsenal and the Blackhawk Corp.

WAVE of the Day
Jean Connor, yeoman third class, daughter of Mrs. Robert Garrey, 1102 East Eighteenth street, and H.R. Connor, Harrison road, is now home on a 15-day leave.
She entered the service Aug. 13, 1943, and took her "boot" training at Hunter college, New York City. She was given active duty doing radio and cable censorship at Washington D.C. Upon completion of her leave she will report back there.
She is a graduate of Davenport high school, and was employed in the executive office of the Blackhawk Hotels Co before she enlisted in the WAVES.

Jean A. Connor, yeoman, third class, of the WAVES has returned to Camp Parks, Calif, where she is employed in the communications division at the navy postal station, after a 15-day leave spent in Davenport. Accompanied by her room-mate, Joan Erkenbecker, yeoman third class, she visited her mother, Mrs. Robert. Garrey, 1102 Easy Eighteenth street, and her father, Harla A. Connor, who resides on Harrison street road.
Miss Connor has been in service since August, 1943 and at Camp Parks since January of this year. She was formerly employed in the central office of the Blackhawk Hotels corp.
