Queen of Badminton Players

Miss Dorothy Chapman, 19-year-old telephone operator with the green eyes and reddish-golden hair Saturday, was selected Des Moines badminton queen to reign over the second session of the city badminton tournament at the Y.M.C.A. Wednesday night, Miss Chapman, who started playing badminton at the Y.W.C.C. last fall, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R.J. Harding, 1542 Harding rd. She was graduated from Roosevelt High in January 1941.

Des Moines in the Services

Pvt. Dorothy E. Chapman, 1542 Harding rd, has left Fort Des Moines training center for duty at the quartermaster depot, Fort Robinson, Neb.

D.M. WAC Stars On European Team

Bad Nauheim, Germany -- T/3 Dorothy Chapman, a WAC whose home is at 1542 Harding road, has taken a place among top women athletes in the European theater as a member of the 7708 War Crimes groups girls' basketball team.

The Des Moines girl and her teammates toppled all opposition in their area to win the right to compete in the 1947 theater women's tournament. Sergeant Chapman has been in the army 2 1/2 years and in Europe since last September.
