55 Clay County Women in Service: Five Are Overseas

Spencer, Ia. -- The Clay county women in service could have a good sized honor roll board all of their own. There are 55 women from this county now in the service.

Oddly enough, there are approximately the same number in the nurses corps, the WACs and the WAVES. Some are serving in the marines and the Red Cross.

Five of the 55 women are now overseas, Margaret King and Dell Brehmer are nurses in England and Blanche Burgeson, a WAC, is also stationed in England. Gladys Heikens, a nurse and Mary Taggart, a Red Cross worker, are in the south Pacific.
