PVT. C. V. WINKLEY AWARDED MEDAL; SENDS IT HOME
Pvt. C. V. Winkley, paratrooper, who was wounded in action in the Casino sector Jan. 25, has been awarded the Purple Heart medal and has sent the award here to his wife, the former Marcella Black.
Private Winkley, whose home is in Minneapolis, suffered arm and hand injuries in some of the toughest fighting of the Italian campaign.
In a letter received by his wife recently he said that he had recovered from his wounds and was back in combat.

Charles Vincent Winkley was born Oct. 4, 1913 to Harry F. and William V. Coleman Winkley. He died Jan 26, 1987 and is buried in the Sunset Lane Cemetery, Port Orchard, WA.
