Ray Harry West was born Oct. 20, 1917 to Claude M. and Mary Alice Wagner West. He died Aug. 6, 1944 and is buried in Oakdale Cemetery, Adel, IA.
Cpl. West served in World War II with the U.S. Army 149th Field Artillery Battalion and died of wounds received in action in Aitape, New Guinea while serving his country.
