Lakota Soldier Given Good Conduct Medal In Italy War Area
With the Fifth Army, Italy: Pvt. George W. Weringa of Lakota recently was presented the Good Conduct Medal personally by Lt. Gen. Mark W. Clark, Fifth Army commander, for his efficiency and exemplary conduct as a Military Police at Fifth Army Headquarters in Northern Italy. Overseas one year and a veteran of the Italian campaign, he is a security and honor guard for visiting officials at the Fifth Army Command Post. He previously served in North Africa and landed in Italy during January, 1944. He was with the first group of Military Police to enter Rome during its liberation.
