Wain Weldin, 82, Williams, died May 25, 1996, at the Hampton Health Care Center. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Williams, with Rev. Stan Peterson officiating. The body will be donated to the University of Osteopathic Medicine and Health Sciences in Des Moines. Burial will be at a later date. The Elledge Funeral Home in Dows in in charge of arrangements.
Wain Weldin, son of Ervin and Charlotte Mechaelis Weldin, was born May 13, 1914, near Mitchell. He was united in marriage to Marian Koschmeder on June 22, 1941, in Lancaster, Mo. He was a World War II veteran and served from March 17, 1942, until his discharge on March 17, 1946. On Jan. 1, 1957, he purchased the Williams Locker and operated it until his retirement and selling of the business to his sons, Vernon and Mark on July 1, 1976.
He is survived by his wife, Marian, Williams; sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Diane Weldin, Hampton, Steven and Jaynne Weldin, Dubuque, Vernon and Patsy Weldin, Williams, Mark and Cindy Weldin, Williams; 10 grandchildren; brothers, Charles Weldin, St. Louis Park, Minn., Jerry Weldin, Connorsville, Ind.; sisters, Sadie Larson, Cedar Falls, Margey Curtis, New York and Rose Weiland, Forest City. He was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.
Mr. Weldin was a member of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Williams and the American Legion Post No. 0633.
