Alvin M. Welbes was commissioned Sunday as a second lieutenant in the army air forces upon graduation from Moore Field flying school, Tex. Son of Mr. and Mrs. John P. Welbes, 141 Walnut street, he entered service Feb. 1, and trained in San Antonio, Tex., Pine Bluff, Ark., Coffeyville, Kan., and at Moore field. Lieutenant Welbes was formerly employed in the circulation department of the Waterloo Daily Courier.
