Virgil Charles Weiss was born Mar. 6, 1920 to John and Anna M. Van Horik Weiss. He died Feb. 27, 1942/FOD Dec. 15, 1945 and is memorialized at the Walls of the Missing, Manila American Cemetery, Taguig City, Philippines.
Petty Officer Weiss served in World War II with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Langley (CV-1)and was MIA/KIA/FOD when that vessel sank in the open sea south of Java after it was bombed by enemy planes. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
