Floyd C. Wallace died May 24, 1945 and is memorialized at the Courts of the Missing, Court 5, Honolulu Memorial, Honolulu, Hawaii.
Cpl. Wallace served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps 882nd Bomber Squadron, 500th Bomber Group, Very Heavy and was MIAKIA and awarded the Purple Heart and Air Medal.
Cpl. Wallace was the right gunner on Z Square 30, ‘Sting Shift’, that participated in an incendiary bomb attack on the night of May 23-24 on the southern part of Tokyo with the greatest number of B-29 aircraft to bomb a single target during the war. After the bomb load was released, the plane was hit by flak, became uncontrollable and crashed in Tokyo Bay.
