Mr. and Mrs. E.A. Vernia have received word that their son, Private First Class Merle J. Vernia, has graduated from the Liberator bomber mechanics school at Keesler Field, Biloxi, Miss.

Merle John Vernia was born July 16, 1922 to Ernest A. and Anna Frances Simon Vernia. He died Nov. 24, 2010 and is buried in Tahoma National Cemetery, Kent, WA.
SMSgt. Vernia served with the U.S. Air Force in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He was awarded the Air Medal.
