Robert Gilman Turner was born July 22, 1923 to Gillman Joseph and Dorothy D. Hammond Turner. He died Sept. 13, 1944 and is buried in Lorraine American Cemetery, St. Avold, France and has a cenotaph in West Linn Cemetery, Linden, IA.
Sgt. Turner served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps 327th Bomber Squadron, 92nd Bomber Group, Heavy and was KIA in Germany. He was awarded the Air Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters and the Purple Heart.
