Milford served with the U.S. Navy in World War II.

Milford L. Thompson, 74, Story City, died Sept. 19, 1994 at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines. Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Jewell, with the Rev. Jonathan Unverzagt officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Olive Cemetery in Randall. Visitation is after 3 p.m. today with the family present from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at the Soderstrum-Larson Funeral Home in Story City.
Milford L. Thompson, son of Tommie L. and Mayme C. (Uhr) Thompson, was born Aug. 23, 1920 in Eagle Grove. On July 7, 1946, he married Margaret Anderson at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, rural Jewell. He resided in Webster City following his time in the U.S. Navy until 1954 when they moved to a farm south of Jewell. They farmed there until retiring. They moved to Story City in 1988.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret of Story City; sons and daughters-in-law, Bruce and Lori Thompson, Dennis and Pat Thompson and Douglas and Kay Thompson, all of Jewell, and Terry and Linda Thompson of Story City; sister, Marjorie Hill of Belmond; and grandchildren, Mark, Brian, Jason, April, Lisa, Eric, David and Kylie. He was preceded in death by his sister, Elsie Bowman.
