Lt. Earl Claire Thompson

 

 

 

Earl Claire Thompson was born May 25, 1923 to Henry C. and Rose Ellen Pletcher Thompson.

Lt. Thompson served in World War II with the 15th Air Force, 55th Wing, 464th Bomb Group. He was assigned to a combat crew on a B-24.

Earl’s brother Richard Henry “Dick” Thompson was unable to serve in the armed forces because of a previous injury where he lost two of his fingers. He served his country by working for the National Defense Research Council, which later became the Corps of Engineers’ “Manhattan Project” and then the Atomic Energy Commission.
