GET WORD OF 2 CASUALTIES

Cpl. Tate Killed March 16; Lt. Nelson Missing March 9.

Word of two more war casualties has been received in Webster City by friends and relatives who have been notified that Cpl. Richard Tate had been killed in action and that Second Lt. Earl B. Nelson, 24, was missing in action over Germany.

Corporal Tate, formerly assistant manager of the J. C. Penney store in this city, was killed March 16 in Germany while on duty with an engineering battalion, according to word received here from his wife now living at Galesburg, Ill.

The corporal, who went into service from Baraboo, Wis., in February, 1943, was employed at the Penney store for several years before leaving for Army duty.

Richard S. Tate was born Aug. 22, 1909 to John Simpson and Rose Smith Tate. He died Mar. 16, 1945 and is buried in the Keokuk National Cemetery, Keokuk, IA.
