Oscar Frederick Stuerke was born Apr. 24, 1917 to Edward H. and Marie J. Ehlers Stuerke. He died Nov. 13, 1943/FOD Nov. 14, 1943 and is memorialized at the Walls of the Missing, Manila American Cemetery, Taguig City, Philippines and has a cenotaph in Missouri Veterans Cemetery at Higginsville, Higginsville, MO.
Petty Officer Stuerke served in World War II with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Barton (DD-599) and was MIA/KIA when that vessel was sunk in the Naval Battle of Guadalcanal. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
