Billy James Stewart was born Nov. 12, 1921 to Archie Lee and Gladys Alexander Stewart. He died July 12, 1944 and is buried in Normandy American Cemetery, Colleville-sur-Mer, France and has a cenotaph in Moon Cemetery, Macksburg, IA.
Pvt. Smith served in World War II with the U.S. Army 23rd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division and was KIA in France and awarded the Purple Heart.
