Willard Eugene Smith was born Nov. 25, 1922 to Forrest Enlow and Mary Lillian Runciman Smith. He died Aug. 22, 1944 and is buried in Resthaven Cemetery, West Des Moines, IA.
Sgt. Smith served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps 451st Bomb Group and was MIA/FOD/KIA as a crew member aboard a B-24 type aircraft which was damaged by enemy aircraft and exploded and crashed in Hungary.
