Walter William Smith was born Sept. 17, 1926 to Joseph and Jessie M. Spry Smith. He died Sept. 25, 1978 and is buried in Golden Gate National Cemetery, San Bruno, CA.
Sgt. Smith served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps 1881st and 803rd Engineering Aviation Battalions. He was also a Korean War veteran.
