Charles Raymond Seitz, Jr. was born Sept. 21, 1918 to Charles Raymond (Sr.) and Ella W. Newman Seitz. He died Sept. 7, 1944 and is memorialized at the Walls of the Missing, Manila American Cemetery, Taguig City, Philippines. He has a cenotaph at Glenwood Cemetery, Glenwood, IA.
Lt. Seitz served with the U.S. Army 2nd Engineers Battalion, 2nd Infantry Division and was MIA/KIA. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
His father, Charles Raymond Seitz, Sr., born Oct. 10, 1892 also served in World War I as a First Lt. in the Infantry and as a Major in World War II with the Infantry and Air Corps. Charles Sr. died Jan. 18, 1978 and is buried in Glenwood Cemetery, Glenwood, IA. The parents of Charles Sr. were August and Augusta Hoffman Seitz.
