Navy Recruits Here In July Climb to 28.
Two more enlistments reported Thursday at the United States Naval recruiting station in Dubuque brought to 28 the number of Dubuqueland men who have enlisted in various branches of the Navy since July 1.
The two new recruits are Richard Bertram Schott, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bert R. Schott, and Greggory DeAngelo Harrington, son of Mr. and Mrs. George V. Harrington, all of Marquette, Ia.
Schott, who has completed the 70-hour course offered at the National Defense School at the CCC camp in Calendonia, Minn., enlisted in Class V-3 of the Naval Reserved, which is the naval communication division.
Harrington enlisted in Class V-6 of the Naval Reserved and plans to take the machinist’s mate course. Both passed their preliminary examinations Wednesday and will go to Des Moines within a few weeks for the final examinations.
