Arthur Paul Schmidt was born July 23, 1924 to Fred E. and Flora Neiland Schmidt. He died Nov. 27, 1944 and is buried in Netherlands American Cemetery, Margraten, Netherlands.
Sgt. Schmidt served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps 601st Bomber Squadron, 398th Bomber Group, Heavy and was MIA/KIA/FOD when shot down near Zwolle, Holland. He was awarded the Air Medal and Purple Heart.
