Lawrence Schaeferle was born Jan. 25, 1912 to Martin Ferdinand and Sena Sliekers Schaeferle. He died Aug. 7, 2012 and is buried in Maple Hill Cemetery, Gladbrook, IA.
Dr. Schaeferle served in World War II with the U.S. Army 1st Infantry “Big Red One”. The 1st was in the second wave on the beach during the first hour of the invasion of Normandy. As a doctor, he was front line for the rest of the war.
