Harold Henry Schaefer was born Mar. 22, 1922 to Henry Herman and Marie Gesina Huedepohl Schaefer. He died July 28, 1944 and is buried in Normandy American Cemetery, Colleville-sur-Mer, France and has a cenotaph in Saint John Lutheran Cemetery, Homestead, IA.
Pvt. Schaefer served in World War II with the 82nd Reconnaissance Battalion, 2nd Armored Division and was KIA in France and was awarded the Purple Heart.
